Dear Students,
Welcome to the Department of Business & Government. It is our conviction that we have to equip students with more than just academic excellence. Academic excelled alone, does not build thriving businesses nor does it advance the kingdom of Christ. We believe in a holistic approach to education. This means that not only do we provide academic excellence, but an academic excellence that is applicable to real life situations, and routed and grounded in the infallible word of God. Our goal for you is that you graduate with a well-rounded education characterized by excellence and supported by character. Your education benefits from a combination of real-world learning experiences, interaction with businesspersons accomplished in their field, and supported by the relevant courses that will assist you in obtaining a competitive business position in this international market.
Students have many opportunities to experience learning in very unique and exciting ways. Students who take advantage of study abroad, small business consulting engagements, business plan competitions, business simulation competitions, career development training, and associations like Students in Free Enterprise (S.I.F.E.) and the Business Student Association will have a significant competitive advantage when they begin their business careers.
Consequently, we believe OCU supports you with the following program objectives:
1.Integrate a Christian worldview into critical thinking and decision-making.
2.Analyze and evaluate the financial performance of an organization and develop a plan to reallocate resources.
3.Apply the management principle of strategic planning, which includes being able to identify needs, develop and analyze options, and recommend solutions to address business issues.
4.Evaluate employee management strategies and develop standards that measure and report actual performance.
5.Formulates corrective or preventive action strategies to improve an organization’s overall effectiveness and efficiency.
Please feel free to contact me or any of the Business Department faculty should you need any assistance or have suggestions for ways to improve our program. Our goal is to serve you and your aspirations for making your “work your worship.”
Sincerely,
Sacha Walicord. Ph.D., LLM., M.A.
